Meet Kate J. Grace

Kate J Grace

Kate is a highly accomplished Physical Therapist and Orthopedic Physician Assistant with over four decades of experience in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation. She founded Kate Grace Physical Therapy in 1985, a progressive clinic specializing in the treatment of acute and surgical orthopedic injuries, postural dysfunctions, and athletic and industrial injuries affecting the spine and extremities. Kate earned her degree in Physical Therapy from The Ohio State University in 1979 and began her career as a staff therapist at Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

In 1982, Kate spearheaded the development and supervision of the Sharp Orthopedic Outpatient Physical Therapy Department at Sharp Hospital in San Diego. Her expertise was further recognized when she served as the supervisor of the Physical Therapy Clinic at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, managing care for over 100 athletes daily. In 1994, she earned her Orthopedic Physician Assistant license and has since divided her time between assisting in surgery and providing care in her sports medicine clinic.

Kate has a deep personal and professional interest in patellofemoral dysfunction, having faced the condition herself since childhood. After enduring 10 knee surgeries and years of rehabilitation, she dedicated her career to advancing treatment for this condition. Over 40 years of research and clinical practice led Kate and her associates to develop the OnTrack System—a groundbreaking, non-surgical method proven to realign the patella and restore joint anatomy to normal. This innovative approach has successfully resolved knee pain and dysfunction for thousands of patients.

In 1995, Kate and her business partner Annie M. Fonte co-founded OrthoRx, Inc., a research and development company focused on orthopedic solutions. Two years later, they established OrthoEd, an international medical education company that hosted seminars worldwide for over a decade, training healthcare professionals in evidence-based techniques for treating patellofemoral dysfunction.

Their latest joint venture, Evolve Physical Therapy + Advanced Wellness, redefines physical therapy and wellness care. This multidisciplinary clinic integrates specialties like physical therapy, active release therapy, deep tissue massage, acupuncture, personal training, and nutrition counseling to deliver world-class, patient-centered care. Evolve was founded to address inefficiencies in the healthcare system and to provide exceptional outcomes for patients of all ages.

Kate’s most recent initiative, Our Joint Effort (OJE), is her legacy project. OJE’s mission is to deliver exceptional orthopedic medical advice, empowering individuals to resolve joint pain and orthopedic sports issues while avoiding ineffective treatments, unnecessary procedures, and irreversible surgeries. A cornerstone of OJE is its innovative 50 Shades of Grace Functional Fitness Classes, designed to enhance strength, flexibility, and balance for a healthier, more active lifestyle.
